About the job
Description:
The North Carolina Forestry Division is seeking a skilled Technical Architect to assist in the migration of ten existing legacy systems into the central Forest Service Accomplishment Portal (FSAP).
This innovative web-based platform will streamline the management of accomplishment data for the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) and the NC Forest Service. The FSAP will feature multiple modules, including the Incident Response Tracking System, Information & Education Tracking System, Forest Management Request Tracking System, Community Wildfire Protection Plan System, and Pest Environmental Tracking System. A GIS spatial component will also be integrated, along with interfaces to county tax records for land owner information extraction and public access.
Additional modules to be developed include the Forest Management Accomplishment Reporting System, Safety Incident Tracking System, State Cost Share Tracking System, Forestry Vendor Information System, Employee Information System, Water Quality Tracking System, Prescribed Fire/Smoke Management, Incident Dispatching, and Incident Billing.
The current systems comprise Microsoft Access databases, Excel spreadsheets, and various paper documents. The successful candidate will be expected to enhance these systems by providing a visually appealing, user-friendly interface and improving functionality through module interaction and information sharing. Anticipated outcomes include increased accessibility, better tracking of accomplishments, improved public access interfaces, and enhanced analytics capabilities. The implementation of modules will occur throughout the project timeline, with a tentative Go Live date set for June 30, 2020.
