About Murmuration
Murmuration supports organizations working to strengthen communities across the United States. The team brings together organizers, scientists, educators, technologists, and campaign veterans who share a belief in the power of collaboration. Murmuration’s mission centers on four main pillars: building a network of like-minded partners, delivering data-driven insights about people and places, developing accessible tools for organization and engagement, and offering services that help partners drive change.
The organization works toward a future where every community has the resources for people to live healthy, dignified lives. Murmuration focuses on reforming systems that shape education, daily life, governance, and problem-solving, ensuring these systems are fair, resilient, and grounded in shared responsibility. By strengthening community connections, Murmuration aims to foster collective action and true representation.
Role Overview: Technical Analyst (Remote, United States)
This newly created Technical Analyst role calls for someone who values independence and has a strong technical mindset. The focus: improving how Murmuration collects, manages, and ensures the reliability of complex civic data. Success in this position relies on a commitment to data integrity and a sense of accountability for delivering accurate information.
The Technical Analyst will acquire and maintain high-quality public-sector data, including information about elected officials, judicial districts, and municipal offices. This data serves as the backbone for research, analytics, and decision-making across Murmuration’s network. The work enables the team to generate insights, reach the right constituents, and support organized efforts that create real change.
With the rise of new technologies, especially AI and modern automation, there’s potential to scale data collection in ways not possible before. Realizing this potential, however, requires careful attention to detail and sound technical judgment. Rather than following a set template, this role will help shape the foundation for a new system of data management at Murmuration.
