About the Role
We are seeking a Tech Lead - Mobile Platform to take charge of and enhance the technical foundations of our mobile banking application. This role is leadership-focused, emphasizing platform enablement, developer experience, engineering architecture, release quality, and mobile standards, rather than purely hands-on product feature development. You will lead a small mobile team of approximately three engineers primarily working with React Native for both iOS and Android.
The core responsibility of this position is to ensure that the mobile platform functions as a dependable, high-quality foundation, enabling product teams to progress swiftly and confidently. This involves understanding the needs of the product teams, eliminating obstacles, promoting the adoption of new tools and processes through mentoring, documentation, and training, while setting high engineering standards for the mobile codebase, and carefully balancing these standards with the workflow of product teams.
While this role is predominantly leadership-oriented, it necessitates a sufficient hands-on depth to guide architectural decisions and platform enhancements. The team currently manages native libraries written in Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, and Java that require ongoing maintenance and support. There is also potential for a future transition to Expo, which will be explored collaboratively with the new hire.
