About the job
Senior Tax Associate
Canonical is a premier provider of open-source software and operating systems for the global enterprise and technology sectors. Our flagship platform, Ubuntu, is extensively adopted in transformative enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, artificial intelligence, engineering innovation, and the Internet of Things (IoT). We proudly serve some of the world's foremost public cloud and silicon providers, along with industry leaders across various sectors. As a trailblazer in global distributed collaboration, we have over 1,200 employees across 75 countries, with a limited number of office roles. Our teams convene two to four times a year in diverse and exciting locations worldwide to align on strategy and execution.
Founded, profitable, and on a growth trajectory, we are looking to hire a Senior Tax Associate who will report directly to the CFO. This pivotal role encompasses multiple Canonical corporate entities across several countries, with a preference for candidates located in EMEA time zones.
This is a unique opportunity for a strategic and innovative tax professional to establish a robust tax function within a thriving technology company. We seek an individual who is passionate about technology and its impact on the tax landscape, capable of translating insights into a modern, effective strategy and hands-on execution.
In this role, you will design and manage tax processes supporting our global expansion. Your primary challenge will be to navigate the complexities of the ever-evolving global tax environment. You will collaborate with the CFO to create a scalable, efficient framework tailored for a dynamic global software business—addressing everything from digital services taxes to harnessing new tax technologies.
In our selection process, we prioritize intellectual curiosity and strategic acumen over years of experience. Ideal candidates will possess a strong academic background, a professional qualification in accounting and tax, and demonstrable exposure to global tax considerations in a multinational context.
Location: This position can be performed remotely within the EMEA region or may be based in our London, UK office.
