We are now venturing into the development of next-generation sensing systems for both space and airborne applications.About the RoleWe are on the lookout for a Senior Optical Systems Engineer who will take charge of the holistic optical performance of intricate electro-optical payloads, overseeing all phases from initial concept and system trades to design, integration, testing, and, where relevant, on-orbit or airborne operations.In this pivotal role, you will serve as the technical authority for optical system performance, adeptly converting mission objectives into optical specifications, guiding the implementation of designs, verifying performance both analytically and experimentally, and facilitating calibration and operations.Collaboration will be key, as you'll engage closely with systems engineering, optomechanical, thermal, electronics, AI&T, and data teams, along with external suppliers and partners.Key ResponsibilitiesOptical System Architecture & TradesDefine and take ownership of optical system architectures for both spaceborne and airborne remote-sensing payloads.Translate mission objectives into precise optical requirements, including resolution, SNR, spectral performance, and stability.Lead comprehensive system-level optical trades regarding aperture, altitude, field of view, spectral bandpass, and detector selection.Support mission-level performance modeling, encompassing radiometric, geometric, and image-quality budgets.Optical Performance AnalysisCreate and maintain thorough optical performance models.Conduct and review analyses including:Radiometry and SNR assessmentsMTF and image quality evaluationsSpectral response and bandpass performance evaluationsSensitivity analyses related to alignment, thermal effects, and structural variations.
