About the job

Red 6 is an exciting and forward-thinking Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup that is revolutionizing synthetic air combat training. Our flagship technology, which underpins our ATARS product, empowers pilots to experience realistic cognitive challenges while engaging in scalable training within dynamic outdoor environments.

The Role

We are on the lookout for a skilled Systems Engineer to enhance the development, integration, and verification of the Airborne Tactical Augmented Reality System (ATARS) throughout the entire product lifecycle. This pivotal role involves supporting the comprehensive system development of ATARS through requirements formulation and traceability, architecture specification, interface management, hardware/software integration, and conducting formal design milestone reviews. As a Systems Engineer, you will collaborate across various teams, including hardware, software, optics, testing, and airworthiness, to ensure the technical performance, compliance, and mission readiness of complex integrated systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, decompose, and oversee system and subsystem requirements using established requirements management tools.

  • Create and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for both internal and external system integrations (covering hardware, software, avionics, and platform interfaces).

  • Lead and facilitate design milestone reviews, including System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and System Verification Review (SVR).

  • Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies (SysML) to construct system architectures, functional decompositions, use cases, and interface models.

  • Conduct trade studies and technical analyses to inform design decisions and enhance performance.

  • Oversee the allocation of weight, power, and other system resources across components.

  • Coordinate and supervise system integration and verification activities in laboratory and aircraft settings.

  • Identify and manage technical risks, ensuring that mitigation strategies are effectively implemented.

  • Act as a technical liaison among cross-functional teams, providing guidance and expertise.
