Position Overview

We are excited to announce an opening for a Survey Technician in our Albany and Poughkeepsie, NY offices. In this role, you will perform essential surveying tasks including topographic and boundary surveying, construction staking, structure monitoring, and other applications that support our land surveying, civil engineering, architectural, and environmental projects. You will work closely under the supervision of Licensed Professional Surveyors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the survey crew chief to complete field assignments efficiently.
  • Adhere to established safety protocols for land surveying.
  • Utilize advanced survey technology, including GPS, Robotic Total Stations, digital and differential levels, UAVs, high-definition scanners, and data collection devices.
  • Clear brush, drive stakes, take meticulous notes, and create sketches.
  • Process data and prepare maps and other deliverables using Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, Carlson, and related software.

Compensation: $21.00 - $27.00 per hour

The salary offered will depend on various factors, including the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.

Candidate Requirements

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in using GPS and Robotic Total Stations, as well as data collection and drafting technologies.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, and OpenRoads software is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to drive a passenger vehicle.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective safety gear throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions.
  • Capacity to carry equipment weighing between 30 to 60 pounds multiple times daily, with occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain or confined spaces safely.
