The Survey Instrument Operator plays a pivotal role in supporting Land Surveyors and Party Chiefs by applying civil engineering and land surveying principles, methods, and techniques through the execution of various tasks.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Engaging in Field Crew operations to gather data for boundary surveys, topographical surveys, and construction stakeout surveys.
- Gaining proficiency in operating total stations, levels, GPS devices, and data collectors for field data collection.
- Collaborating on construction stakeout projects under the guidance of a Party Chief (including curb and gutter, drop inlets, storm sewer systems, sanitary sewer systems, waterlines, and structures).
- Learning daily maintenance and proper care of surveying instruments.
- Documenting clear and detailed field notes accompanied by sketches.
- Demonstrating teamwork skills and adaptability to various weather conditions.
