A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (a Master's degree is preferred).3–5 years of professional experience in structural engineering, with a primary focus on building design in seismic regions. PE license or actively pursuing licensure. Demonstrated proficiency in structural analysis and design of building systems. Experience with structural analysis software is expected; proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is preferred. A strong understanding of relevant building codes and design standards. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. A commitment to ongoing technical growth and development within the field of structural engineering.

About the Position

KPFF Consulting Engineers is actively looking for a passionate Structural Project Engineer with 3 to 5 years of professional experience to join our dynamic San Francisco team. In this pivotal role, you will undertake significant technical responsibilities while being deeply involved in everyday structural design, analysis, modeling, and coordination. Candidates should be either a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or actively pursuing licensure to further enhance their technical skills.

This position focuses on hands-on design work and collaborative project participation. You will work alongside seasoned engineers who prioritize mentorship and technical excellence, allowing you to refine your skills, engage in real project work, and progressively take on greater responsibilities in a supportive, design-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct structural analysis and design for a diverse range of building types, including gravity and lateral systems, foundations, and various structural components.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, design narratives, and technical documentation to support project deliverables.
  • Coordinate the development of structural drawings using Revit and AutoCAD in collaboration with architects and other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist in project execution by addressing technical queries, collaborating with team members, and contributing to problem-solving throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Engage in site visits and field observations to verify existing conditions and assist with construction-phase engineering needs.
  • Review and provide feedback on work prepared by entry-level engineers, offering technical guidance and mentorship as necessary.
  • Work closely with senior engineers and principals to advance structural concepts and ensure that design intent is maintained throughout documentation.
