Qualifications:A minimum of 5 years of experience working with lightweight structures, including aircraft, spacecraft, or high-performance vehicles. A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline. Proficient in designing and analyzing basic components. Solid understanding of load paths and laminate design fundamentals. Strong CAD proficiency, preferably in NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo. Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems. Experience in manufacturing composite parts is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

As a Structural Design Engineer specializing in testing at Archer, your role will encompass the design of fixtures, test equipment, and instrumentation using CAD software. You will also participate in the assembly of fixtures and oversee structural testing of critical flight components. This hands-on position involves programs that range from allowable development and design validation to full-scale destructive testing, with a primary focus on validating the structural integrity of composite aircraft.

  • Utilize knowledge of load paths, design principles, and analytical calculations to develop robust structural designs.
  • Create and evaluate engineering drawings, outline project plans, and source necessary materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to design and implement test fixtures and manage testing programs.
  • Define and calibrate instrumentation, ensuring accurate installation on test articles.
  • Lead small teams through testing phases to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data derived from testing activities.
  • Design testing stands, fixtures, and data acquisition systems.
  • Establish and enforce safety protocols and testing procedures within the structural test lab.
