About the job

At Relativity Space, we are on a mission to revolutionize space travel by designing and manufacturing innovative rockets that cater to both current demands and future possibilities. Our flagship Terran R vehicle is engineered to transport customer payloads into orbit, addressing the increasing necessity for launch capacity. This is just the beginning; achieving commercial success with Terran R will open doors to groundbreaking advancements in science, exploration, and technological innovation that extend beyond our current understanding.

Becoming a part of Relativity means immersing yourself in a culture where autonomy, ownership, and impactful contributions are integral to every role. Here, you won’t simply execute tasks; you’ll tackle unprecedented challenges, contributing to the development of a rocket, a manufacturing facility, and a burgeoning business. Whether your expertise lies in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or corporate functions, you will collaborate across diverse teams, influence key decisions, and witness your contributions materialize rapidly. Relativity embodies a unique environment where creativity and technical precision converge, allowing your insights to shape the narrative of our shared journey. This is an exceptional opportunity to leave your imprint on our product, processes, and culture as the Terran R project gains momentum. The most significant work of your career awaits—come join us.

About the Team:

The Structures and Mechanisms team is at the forefront of the entire design, manufacturing, and testing lifecycle of the Terran R’s integrated structures and flight mechanisms. Whether you’re engaged in the development of highly iterative mechanisms or ensuring the integrity of tight-margin structures, you will have direct ownership of hardware and see the rocket come to life in our production facility. Our teams operate under a unified department, sharing design principles, tools, and a holistic approach that provides a comprehensive understanding of the Terran R. Team members are involved in multiple components rather than limiting themselves to a single subsystem, and they are empowered to make decisions that significantly affect flight hardware. Beyond the first flight, you will play a pivotal role in refining designs for manufacturability and efficiency.

About the Role:

The scope of your responsibilities will encompass the entire design process, including conceptualization, design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing of primary and secondary structures such as Thrust Structures, Propellant Tanks, and Interstage components. You will be expected to think creatively and utilize innovative methods to minimize mass, reduce part counts, and enhance overall performance.

About Relativity Space

Relativity Space is pioneering the future of space exploration by creating advanced rockets that are not only designed for today’s needs but also for the breakthroughs of tomorrow. Our innovative approach leverages cutting-edge technology and a collaborative workplace culture, making us a leader in the aerospace industry. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in space travel.
