Familiarity with or a desire to work with Ruby on Rails. Ability to mentor engineers to enhance their performance and contributions.

We are seeking experienced engineers to contribute to our customer-facing product teams, focusing on developing innovative features and enhancing our platform. As a Staff Software Engineer at Gusto, you will lead projects from inception to execution, influencing feature specifications, building backend APIs, crafting frontend code, and implementing continuous improvements for deployed functionalities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test Gusto’s comprehensive product suite, which includes Payroll, Benefits, HR, Time, Tax Credits, and more.
  • Guide and mentor fellow engineers in tackling challenging technical problems in complex domains at scale.
  • Contribute to scaling one of the largest Ruby/Rails and JavaScript/React applications globally.
  • Work collaboratively with our Product Management and Design teams to identify customer pain points, devise solutions, and prototype, iterate, and launch features on a daily basis.
  • Create products that our customers truly love.
