About the Team

The team is central to Kick's user experience, responsible for the evolution of the frontend platform that powers every interaction within our product. Their mission is to construct a high-performance, reliable, and scalable web foundation that allows teams to deliver seamless experiences to millions of users in real-time.

They go beyond mere feature development by defining architecture, establishing engineering standards, and enhancing reliability across the frontend ecosystem. This includes optimizing rendering strategies, improving deployment safety, and ensuring robust performance during high traffic, live events, and failure scenarios.

As a force multiplier across the Kick engineering team, they drive consistency, enhance code quality, and address systemic bottlenecks, significantly impacting speed-to-market, platform stability, and user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and enhance the web frontend platform architecture (React / Next.js) focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Write and deploy high-quality production code, setting benchmarks for React, TypeScript, and frontend engineering best practices.
  • Implement end-to-end platform enhancements that resolve system bottlenecks and failure modes.
  • Establish and enforce standards for React patterns, state management, data fetching, and performance optimization.
  • Design systems capable of handling large-scale traffic, burst events, and graceful degradation under failure or attack.
  • Enhance deployment safety, rollout strategies, and recovery measures to avert platform-wide incidents.
  • Collaborate with Platform and Infrastructure teams to ensure cohesive development efforts.
