About the job
Be Part of the Team Revolutionizing Autonomy in Construction
At Bedrock Robotics, we are at the forefront of transitioning artificial intelligence from theoretical frameworks to practical applications. Our team consists of seasoned professionals who have been instrumental in launching Waymo, scaling Segment to a $3.2 billion acquisition, and driving Uber Freight to $5 billion in revenue. We are currently implementing autonomous systems on heavy construction machinery nationwide, expediting timelines for multi-billion dollar infrastructure projects while enhancing safety on job sites. With $350 million in funding, we are swiftly addressing the growing demand for housing, data centers, manufacturing facilities, and tackling the construction sector's labor shortages.
This is where cutting-edge algorithms meet robust engineering. You will collaborate with experienced construction professionals and world-renowned engineers to tackle real-world challenges that simulations cannot address. If you're eager to leverage innovative technology to solve significant issues alongside a dedicated team, we would be thrilled to welcome you aboard.
Job Overview
As a Mechanical Systems Integration Engineer, your primary responsibility will be the physical integration of sensors, computational hardware, actuators, and auxiliary subsystems onto our next-generation autonomous construction machines. You will work collaboratively with electrical, software, manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams to convert system-level requirements into robust mechanical designs optimized for scalability, reliability, manufacturability, industrial design, and operational efficiency in challenging real-world environments—enduring vibrations, shocks, dust, debris, and various weather conditions.
Main Responsibilities
Mechanical Integration Design: Create mounting brackets, enclosures, and structural interfaces for sensors (cameras, LiDAR, radar, IMUs), computational units, and ancillary hardware on vehicle platforms.
3D CAD Design: Develop intricate part and assembly models utilizing Onshape, including GD&T-compliant drawings for fabrication and vendor sourcing.
Routing & Packaging: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine physical routing paths for wire harnesses, fluid lines, and cooling components within constrained mechanical envelopes.
Environmental Protection: Design and select suitable sealing, gasketing, and protective enclosures (IP-rated) to shield sensitive electronics from moisture, dust, and contamination.
Prototype Build Support: Assist in the building and testing of prototypes to validate design assumptions and ensure functionality.
