POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a talented Staff Full Stack Engineer with a strong emphasis on backend systems and infrastructure. You will take ownership of a robust platform that ingests, processes, stores, and delivers large quantities of video and sensor data. The main data sources consist of edge/IoT devices deployed in the field. Your expertise in designing reliable systems under these conditions is essential.
Your focus on reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency will guide your architectural decisions, even as requirements evolve. Privacy and security are paramount for this product, and you will be responsible for implementing that infrastructure. While experience in machine learning engineering is a plus, it is not a prerequisite.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a small, agile team where you will design systems from the ground up, make foundational architectural choices, and manage entire subsystems end-to-end.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop a device-to-cloud data platform that seamlessly receives data from edge devices, processes it, stores it efficiently, and makes it easily queryable. This includes implementing store-and-forward uploads, media pipelines, metadata indexing, tiered storage, and APIs that deliver rich content to frontend applications.
- Establish and maintain privacy and security infrastructure, including access control, audit logging, configurable data retention policies, and consent management. Privacy must be integrated into the architecture from day one, not as an afterthought.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices, including provisioning, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, and cost management. You will ensure the operational health of the platform.
- Design APIs and backend services, focusing on data modeling, authentication, multi-tenancy, and integration with enterprise systems.
