Role Overview:
We are on the lookout for a Staff Frontend Engineer to spearhead the development of real-time, impactful applications tailored for drone pilots, first responders, and mission commanders. In this pivotal role, you will help shape the future of drones as essential infrastructure by designing intuitive, robust, and high-performance interfaces that deliver critical video, telemetry, and control functionality.
Your Contributions:
Revolutionize the UI/UX of Skydio’s real-time browser flight experience.
Craft mission and mapping workflows in immersive 3D with geospatial data integration.
Enhance browser performance through process optimization techniques including web workers.
Foster an engineering culture centered around best practices through code reviews and technical discussions.
Empower pilots to conduct complex multi-drone operations seamlessly.
Collaborate with autonomy teams and iterate on features based on in-field feedback.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Over 8 years of experience in developing and deploying customer-facing frontend applications.
Expertise in modern web technologies including React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and WebGL/Three.js.
Demonstrated ability to design scalable systems focused on performance, reliability, and user experience.
Strong product intuition and empathy for users operating in high-pressure environments.
Proven track record of cross-team collaboration to deliver complex, integrated features from inception to production.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with geospatial data visualization tools (Mapbox, Cesium, etc.).
Familiarity with photogrammetry, scanning, mapping, or rendering technologies.
Experience in integrating frontend applications with cloud services (AWS, Temporal, Kubernetes).
