About the job
Replit’s platform helps millions of people create software using natural language. The company’s mission is to make software development accessible to everyone, supporting a broad and active community.
Role overview
The Staff Developer Experience Engineer shapes how Replit’s engineering teams build, test, and ship code. This position manages codebases, tools, and workflows that directly affect productivity across the organization. The focus is on improving the developer experience by enabling faster feature delivery, smoother onboarding, and reducing daily friction for engineers.
This role requires strong technical skills across a multi-language codebase and a product-oriented mindset. Decisions made here influence both internal engineering processes and how quickly new features reach customers. Collaboration with the AI team is central, especially as Replit’s internal AI platform now handles more than 60% of merged pull requests. The position offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to help shape the developer experience team as it grows.

- Set and automate code quality standards with tools like TypeScript, ESLint, Prettier, and Go linters or formatters, including writing custom rules and plugins.
- Streamline onboarding and local development setup for new engineers.
- Collaborate with platform teams to improve deployment processes, infrastructure integration, and external tooling.
- Lead migrations to improved tools and keep the codebase up to date.
