About the job
About the Role
Hinge Health is expanding from digital physical therapy to a broader approach in musculoskeletal care through the HingeSelect program. This platform gives members access to in-person visits, specialist referrals, and personalized care pathways. As HingeSelect grows, the team seeks a Staff Product Data Scientist to create a measurement and experimentation framework that connects product work to real business growth.
This is a foundational 0-to-1 position as the first dedicated data scientist for HingeSelect's discovery and visitation experience. The role works closely with Product and Engineering to uncover conversion barriers, set up causal guardrails to protect existing programs, and ensure instrumentation delivers clear links between product features and outcomes. There will also be a focus on analyzing how provider capacity meets member demand to improve supply-demand balance across the care network.
The right candidate brings strong technical skills, experience with AI-assisted development, and the ability to build data architecture from scratch. Comfort with writing production-ready code using AI tools, designing experiments for causal inference, and structuring ambiguous business questions into analytical frameworks is important. This expertise will help the team avoid superficial analytics, measure strategic risks, and keep engineering efforts aligned with outcomes.
The current stack includes Python, SQL, dbt, Mode, Databricks, Airflow, Statsig, and AWS.
What You'll Achieve
- Build measurement and experimentation infrastructure for HingeSelect, from instrumentation design to causal analysis and metric reporting.
- Pinpoint and address conversion issues across the HingeSelect funnel, including discovery, selection, scheduling, and visit completion. Work with Product to prioritize changes with the biggest impact.
- Design and run experiments with causal guardrails to measure HingeSelect’s incremental value while protecting engagement in digital physical therapy programs.
- Model supply-demand dynamics by analyzing provider capacity, geographic coverage, and member demand to inform network strategy and capacity planning.
- Define the data architecture for HingeSelect, including event taxonomy, data models, and metric definitions that support reliable analysis and AI agent use.
- Create and maintain dashboards and self-service tools that give Product, Engineering, and leadership real-time visibility into funnel performance and key metrics.
