About the Role:
We are on the lookout for a Staff Data Scientist to spearhead significant advancements in our pricing algorithms and machine learning systems. This high-responsibility role is ideal for someone who excels in uncertainty, can delve deeply into research and modeling, and has a proven history of deploying machine learning solutions that yield measurable business results. You'll work on machine learning systems that already contribute to substantial outcomes, including pricing models that enable the purchase of over $1 million in vehicles daily without human intervention, with a remarkable opportunity to enhance them as we continue to scale.
Joining a compact, high-impact data team, your contributions will be visible, measurable, and vital to our business, with opportunities to expand into other influential machine learning areas such as lending, logistics optimization, fraud detection, and recommendation systems. In this role, you will manage problem areas end-to-end—from identifying opportunities and developing strategies to deploying production-ready models and driving quantifiable improvements in margin and conversion rates.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead and enhance Clutch's pricing algorithms, striking a balance between margin, conversion, and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct in-depth analyses of market and vehicle data to uncover critical correlations between vehicle characteristics, market trends, and pricing outcomes.
- Develop, validate, and implement machine learning models and algorithms in production, iterating swiftly based on real-world performance.
- Oversee feature engineering, model assessment, and experimentation design.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Strategy & Ops, and Sales to prioritize high-impact opportunities.
- Contribute to other applied machine learning domains as necessary.
