Role overview
This Staff Android Engineer (Client Platform) position centers on technical leadership within Reddit’s Android organization. The work focuses on client health (crashes, ANRs, performance), developer experience, and app architecture. The role supports both the core app and the frameworks and tools that enable other teams to build and ship features efficiently.
What you will do
- Design and architect the future of Reddit’s Android app, supporting over 100 million daily active users.
- Build tools, workflows, and CI integrations to improve the Android developer experience and streamline deployment.
- Establish and enforce guardrails, such as lint/static analysis, tests, and AI-assisted code reviews, to catch issues early.
- Develop frameworks for client health and observability, including events, traces, and dashboards.
- Integrate AI strategies into engineering workflows to increase productivity.
- Mentor and support Android engineers through design reviews, documentation, and sharing platform knowledge.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong background in Android development.
