Role overview This remote Design Engineer position in Canada centers on bridging design and engineering. The role calls for a proactive approach: identifying improvements, producing clean code, and focusing on user-centered solutions. Initiative is valued, rather than waiting for direction, this role involves spotting opportunities to refine the product, advance the design system, and strengthen team collaboration. Working alongside an experienced design engineer, the position focuses on translating design intent into polished user experiences. The work includes developing and maintaining the design system in code, improving UI component quality, and building tools that streamline both design and engineering workflows. There is a strong emphasis on reworking inefficient processes and filling gaps in the design system with production-ready components. Advocacy for new prototyping, testing, and deployment practices is expected. This role reports directly to the Design team, reinforcing the importance of close integration between design engineering and the team responsible for UI quality and design system standards. What you will do Design System Management: Oversee the design system in both Figma and code. Manage React components, tokens, and patterns. Ensure the Figma library matches production and adapt as requirements change. Use Figma expertise to inform system-level design decisions and keep specifications aligned with what ships. UI Quality Assurance: Focus on the details of UI implementation. Ensure transitions, micro-interactions, responsive states, loading behaviors, edge cases, and accessibility all meet high standards before release. Tooling and Workflow Optimization: Evaluate and improve collaboration, prototyping, testing, and deployment practices within the design and engineering teams.
