Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Software Engineering Lead to architect and develop the foundational backend systems for Remedy's platform. This role is ideal for a seasoned backend engineer eager to take full ownership of system design and implementation, while thriving in an environment of high autonomy, limited processes, and evolving requirements.
In this pivotal position, you will define the technical direction for the backend, contribute significantly to early production code, and establish the engineering standards that will guide our team. As the role evolves, there may be opportunities to transition into engineering management or a head-of-software role, but the immediate focus will be on building robust systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and take ownership of Remedy’s backend systems, effectively modeling workflows in software from the ground up.
Architect APIs, services, and data models that facilitate complex and evolving workflows.
Write production-grade code daily and remain actively engaged in critical backend processes.
Set and refine technical direction by making pragmatic architectural trade-offs in a fast-paced, early-stage environment.
Establish backend engineering best practices regarding testing, code reviews, deployment strategies, and observability.
Collaborate closely with product, scientific, and frontend teams to translate real-world needs into reliable backend solutions.
Prepare the groundwork for future engineers through clear code, documentation, and system design.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as a backend engineering lead, responsible for both architecture and execution while writing significant production code.
Demonstrated experience in designing systems that progressively transform complex real-world inputs into reliable, structured representations.
Strong skills in API and service design to support customer-facing reporting workflows and downstream consumption.
