Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).3+ years of experience with C++ or Python, focused on building scalable pipelines and tooling. Solid understanding of fundamental statistical concepts with practical application experience. At least 2 years of experience in coordinating activities across different organizational boundaries. Preferred Qualifications:Master’s or Ph. D. in Computer Science, Robotics, or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience with Level 4 autonomous vehicles or Level 2/3 Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). Background in the software reliability domain.

The Planner/Perception Reliability team is dedicated to developing architectures, tools, and workflows that proactively address reliability challenges. Our focus is on ensuring the health of onboard software while maintaining high velocity in development.

In this hybrid role, you will report to a Staff Software Engineer/Tech Lead Manager.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Designing the foundational architecture for onboard reliability, creating essential infrastructure and tools that enhance the robustness and reliability of onboard software.
  • Gaining a comprehensive understanding of system behavior, implementing concise, low-noise metrics that provide immediate insights into vehicle and overall fleet performance.
  • Collaborating across teams at Waymo to streamline reliability workflows, ensuring our business-critical operations run smoothly and safely at scale.
  • Developing systems for proactive anomaly detection and automation of clustering, significantly easing the management of reliability and enabling early issue detection.
