About the job

Join a Transformative Company

At Palantir, we are pioneers in developing cutting-edge software that revolutionizes data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency. Our innovative platforms empower partners to achieve remarkable feats, such as developing life-saving pharmaceuticals, predicting supply chain disruptions, and assisting in locating missing children.

About the Role

Apollo represents Palantir’s autonomous software management and deployment solution, ensuring the seamless and continuous delivery of mission-critical software (Foundry, Gotham, AIP) across diverse environments, including on-premises systems, public clouds, air-gapped networks, and highly regulated environments (such as IL-5 and FedRAMP).

As a Software Engineer on the Apollo team, you will be instrumental in building and managing a large-scale distributed system that supports the remote operation and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters. Our mission focuses on extracting a cluster's entire state into a portable, high-performance artifact within minutes, allowing for rapid and comprehensive cluster reconstruction—all while pushing the boundaries of speed, reliability, and scalability.

You will design and implement sophisticated backup and restoration solutions for Kubernetes, leveraging our proprietary compression technology customized for Palantir’s unique deployment frameworks. Additionally, you will enhance and optimize our container artifact repository, grounded in the OCI (Open Container Initiative) distribution specification—the standard for storing and distributing container images and artifacts. You will be responsible for the foundational infrastructure that supports every environment Apollo caters to, from hyperscale data centers to military vehicles.

If you thrive on challenges that sit at the nexus of container technologies, storage solutions, and distributed systems, you’ll find ample opportunities to delve into storage formats and low-level optimizations where milliseconds are crucial. As we enhance automation in cluster creation and management across various hardware platforms, you will play a vital role in expanding Palantir’s edge capabilities and tackling complex distributed system challenges. You will oversee the entire development lifecycle—from ideation and design to implementation and ongoing support—while collaborating closely with both technical and non-technical team members to deliver impactful, robust infrastructure. We actively encourage the use of AI tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, and Copilot) to enhance your productivity!
