At Axon, we’re dedicated to the mission of Protecting Life. We tackle some of society’s most pressing safety and justice challenges through our advanced ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Just like our innovative products, we believe in the power of collaboration. We value open communication and diverse perspectives from our customers, communities, and within our team.

Your Impact

We are at the forefront of developing the next generation of mission-critical communication systems that fuel devices used by public safety professionals across the globe. As a Staff Wireless Software Engineer, you will lead the architecture and implementation of wireless protocol stacks, transport abstraction layers, and real-time communication systems across our innovative devices. You will work at the intersection of RF, embedded systems, and cloud-connected software.

This is a hands-on technical role with significant architectural influence.

Work Location: This role can be based in any of Axon’s US hubs: Atlanta, Boston, Scottsdale (HQ), San Francisco, or Seattle, and follows a hybrid work schedule. We emphasize in-person collaboration, requiring team members to work onsite four days a week, from Tuesday to Friday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless an approved workplace accommodation is in place. We believe in connection as a catalyst for innovation, and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and collective success.

What You’ll Do:

You will tackle the most complex wireless challenges faced by our products: translating research into robust, high-performance PHY/MAC systems; architecting firmware and toolchains that meet stringent latency, power, and reliability demands; and defining the wireless roadmap to balance innovation, manufacturability, and real-world performance. Your influence will shape how our devices connect and perform at scale—from lab prototypes to deployed fleets—and your work will be evaluated based on field performance in real-world conditions, not just simulations. This role requires both RF knowledge and deep systems software expertise, placing you at the critical junction that defines the reliability and trust of our entire communications platform.
