Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, accompanied by at least 8 years of relevant experience in transportation design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a Professional Engineering (P. E.) license in Colorado, Arizona, or Utah, or the ability to obtain reciprocity within six months of hire. Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D or Microstation/Power InRoads/Power GeoPak. Experience in creating engineering design reports and construction drawings for highways, roadways, transit, and rail projects. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary design teams. Previous experience in roadway design, specifically with Bus Rapid Transit and/or Light Rail Transit systems. Familiarity with local and national BRT/LRT design standards and best practices. Strong interpretative skills for technical documents and standards.

AECOM is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Transit Design Engineer to join our team in Phoenix, with additional opportunities available in Salt Lake City and Denver.

Position Overview:

  • The Senior Transit Engineer will play a pivotal role within our US West Region Transit/Rail Engineering Group, contributing to a variety of innovative transit projects with a special emphasis on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or assist in planning studies, preliminary and final design phases of BRT projects while fostering collaboration within the team.
  • Conduct detailed engineering calculations and develop comprehensive designs and visual aids for BRT infrastructure.
  • Review and prepare multimodal street designs and participate in interdisciplinary assessments of project deliverables.
  • Generate construction cost estimates and project technical effort assessments.
  • Ensure quality control of design calculations and drawings.
  • Draft technical specifications and contribute to the engineering budget and scheduling processes.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers while working independently to meet project objectives.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering projects within agreed budgets and timelines.
