About the job
Primary Purpose:
The Senior Performance Analysis Engineer will assume technical ownership of key domains within our autonomous driving technology, ensuring optimal system quality and vehicle behavior. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in system and sub-system analysis, utilizing verification and validation methodologies, while fostering collaboration across software, testing, and project management teams. This role uniquely integrates testing and operations with software development and systems/safety requirements, positioned at both ends of the systems V-model.
Essential Duties:
- Assume technical ownership of entire domains or sub-domains (e.g., localization, motion planning, perception, prediction) while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the autonomous vehicle stack.
- Act as the primary contact for performance analysis in the assigned domain.
- Provide diagnostic support across teams during escalations.
- Lead comprehensive Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) across various environments including public roads, closed courses, simulations, and Hardware-in-Loop (HIL).
- Drive both diagnosis and prognosis efforts, analyzing risk trajectories, recurrence patterns, and release impacts.
- Deliver structured performance summaries to inform decisions on release readiness, commercial deployments, and KPI governance.
- Collaborate across functions including software, hardware, systems testing, operations, and safety teams.
- Proactively identify and remove engineering blockers affecting multiple teams.
- Own team-wide or organization-wide KPIs/OKRs.
- Communicate performance metrics clearly and effectively across various teams while remaining technically grounded.
- Champion automation and scalable analysis and reporting practices.
- Mentor peers and junior engineers, providing structured feedback and supporting their technical growth.
- Optional travel may be required based on business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
