Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of 7 years of experience in structural engineering, with an emphasis on project management and complex structures. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; an SE license is preferred. Strong proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., RAM, ETABS, Revit). Demonstrated experience in project management, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. In-depth knowledge of structural engineering principles, materials, and mechanics. Comprehensive understanding of building codes, standards, and construction practices. Exceptional client management skills with a proven history of successful client relations and business development. Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with experience managing project teams and supporting professional development. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.

KPFF Consulting Engineers is in search of a highly skilled Structural Engineering Project Manager to become part of our dynamic team in Boise, Idaho. This position is tailored for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in overseeing intricate structural engineering projects.

As the Structural Engineering Project Manager, you will lead the planning, design, and implementation of large-scale structural projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards. Your responsibilities will include managing client relationships, guiding project teams, and making strategic decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Lead Structural Project Management and Execution: Direct all phases of structural engineering projects, from initiation through design, budgeting, scheduling, and closeout. Ensure timely achievement of project objectives within established scope.
  • Provide Technical Expertise and Quality Control: Oversee the preparation and assessment of detailed structural calculations, drawings, and specifications, ensuring compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and Manage Client Relationships: Act as the primary liaison for clients, nurturing strong relationships, managing expectations, and ensuring satisfaction. Participate in proposal development and contribute to business growth through networking and client engagement.
  • Coordinate Multi-Disciplinary Teams: Work collaboratively with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to guarantee cohesive project delivery and seamless integration of structural systems with other design elements.
  • Mentor and Develop Team Members: Lead project teams by providing mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that promotes professional growth.
  • Oversee Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: Guarantee projects adhere to all relevant building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations. Identify potential risks and formulate mitigation strategies.
  • Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry advancements and integrate new technologies and methodologies to enhance project outcomes and client satisfaction.
