The Delta DML team is responsible for the core write-path operations of Delta Lake, the open-source storage layer behind the Databricks Lakehouse. Our goal is to deliver unparalleled performance and a smooth user experience at scale, with most data written in Databricks traversing our platform. We spearhead performance innovations such as Low Shuffle Merge and Deletion Vectors and actively contribute to open-source initiatives aimed at unifying the Delta and Iceberg formats.
We are in search of a highly competent and seasoned Senior Staff Software Engineer to become a part of our backend team. In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in designing, developing, and maintaining resilient backend systems that drive Databricks workspaces. You will be responsible for building the next-generation platform for serving workspace assets, ensuring high queries per second (QPS), low latency, reliability, and performance, while proactively addressing future growth challenges. Furthermore, as a senior member of the team, you will offer technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers, contributing to the enhancement of team coding practices and system designs.
