Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Over 10 years of mechanical design experience, ideally with a focus on high-voltage battery systems in automotive or aerospace industries. Strong foundation in engineering principles including structural design, materials science, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics. Proficiency in CAD software (preferably NX), tolerance stack analysis, and 2D drafting with GD&T. Experience in developing parts through various manufacturing processes, both in prototype and mass production environments. Ability to utilize simplified tools and techniques to expedite development processes. Practical experience in prototyping and assembly tasks. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Role overview

The Senior Staff Engineer - Battery Cell Stack will lead the design and development of high-voltage battery pack components for both commercial and defense eVTOL aircraft. This position plays a key role in shaping battery technology for multiple aircraft programs.

What you will do

  • Oversee the full design process for high-voltage battery pack components across several aircraft platforms.
  • Collaborate with CAE engineers, quality assurance, testing, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to align on project goals.
  • Engage in hands-on prototyping, assembly, and root cause analysis during the design cycle.
  • Work with integration and certification teams to ensure battery systems meet FAA certification standards.
  • Create and refine battery design solutions that fulfill strict aerospace requirements.
  • Establish and promote design standards and best practices for Archer’s battery systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers working on battery design.
  • Develop and maintain the battery hardware technology roadmap for future products and applications.
