Role Overview: Senior Software Engineer – Windows/Desktop Applications

This role focuses on building and maintaining native Windows desktop applications. The position is based in Burlington, VT, USA.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design, architecture, and development of Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar frameworks), C#, XAML, and C++ where needed.
  • Set and maintain standards for Windows desktop development, with attention to code structure, performance, memory management, responsive UI, compatibility across Windows 10/11+, and long-term maintainability.
  • Drive accessibility by integrating and testing support for APIs such as Microsoft UI Automation, making sure applications are usable by people with disabilities.
  • Work closely with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other partners to shape features, user experience, and the broader Windows platform strategy.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of features: from concept and design through to implementation, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring each release meets quality and reliability standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, including bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering challenges, and compatibility concerns, recommending architectural or design changes as needed.
