About Zipline
Zipline stands as the world's largest and most seasoned autonomous delivery service, created to ensure equal access to essential goods for all humans, anytime and anywhere. We design, construct, and operate the most extensive autonomous logistics system globally, facilitating the rapid and reliable delivery of critical supplies. Presently, Zipline operates in four continents, executing deliveries every 30 seconds while achieving millions of successful deliveries that include blood, vaccines, medical supplies, food, and commercial products. Our clientele spans healthcare systems, governments, retailers, and global brands who depend on our services to save lives, minimize emissions, enhance economic opportunities, and provide scalable logistics solutions.
Our technological prowess extends beyond drones, as we deploy integrated logistics infrastructure that fortifies supply chains, alleviates congestion, and enables instantaneous delivery, revolutionizing the accessibility of essential goods worldwide. With over 140 million commercial autonomous miles flown safely, Zipline is transforming how healthcare, consumer products, and food are accessed globally.
Operating on a global scale, we seek practical problem solvers who thrive in addressing real-world challenges and rapid growth. Our team is driven by the mission to develop systems that directly impact lives and to scale the future of logistics.
Why This Role Matters
We are constructing the mapping infrastructure that supports every Zipline flight. Maps Platform engineers establish the backbone that provides geographic data, features, and map-driven services to Zipline's products and operators.
In this role, you will ensure that map data is fast, accurate, and reliable for both human workflows (map editors, operator dashboards, regulatory UIs) and autonomous systems (routing, onboard systems). This unique position intertwines backend, data, platform engineering, and user interface design with practical production ownership.
Why This Role is Unique
- Be the architect of flight intelligence. The systems you develop will directly enable how aircraft interpret and navigate their environment.
- Engage with massive data challenges. You will design pipelines that handle and serve large-scale geospatial datasets while adhering to stringent standards for accuracy, consistency, and availability.
- Experience end-to-end ownership. From raw data ingestion to production services, you will create systems critical to real-world operations.
- Make a cross-functional impact. Your contributions will be utilized across autonomy, routing, simulation, and operations.
- Leverage AI-accelerated engineering. We utilize modern AI and agentic workflows to enhance engineering velocity while upholding robust system integrity.
