About the job

Join Toyota Research Institute (TRI) as we strive to enhance the quality of human existence through innovative technologies. Our aim is to revolutionize mobility by creating tools that enrich the human experience. Our accomplished team is at the forefront of advancements in AI, robotics, driving, and material sciences.

At TRI's Automated Driving Advanced Development division, we are committed to fostering innovation and transformation at Toyota. We act as a conduit between TRI's cutting-edge research and Toyota's products, services, and requirements. Our collaborative efforts are focused on a groundbreaking project in partnership with Woven by Toyota, where we are developing a comprehensive learned driving stack. This initiative aligns seamlessly with the missions of TRI's robotics divisions, particularly in Diffusion Policy and Large Behavior Models.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to become an integral part of our end-to-end automated driving team. In this role, you will facilitate the integration, prototyping, and deployment of advanced autonomy systems within vehicle platforms. As a versatile software engineer with extensive systems knowledge, you will engage across the autonomy software stack to expedite feature development, enhance system-level integration, and assist in validating deployments in both controlled environments and public road settings.

You will thrive in our collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment. This position serves as a bridge between research and practical deployment, focusing on engineering support for platform integration, evaluation tools, system initialization, and diagnostics. You will work closely with machine learning, simulation, and infrastructure teams to ensure the complete stack operates reliably on actual vehicles during closed-course, public road, and simulation testing.

This role is part of Toyota's global AI initiatives and involves close collaboration with teams across TRI, Woven by Toyota, and other engineering partners.
