Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field, with a strong foundation in neurobiology, proteomics, or a related discipline. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, and possess excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and mentorship.

About the job

Parallel Squared Technology Institute (PTI) is an innovative non-profit research institute dedicated to advancing proteomic technologies and computational tools aimed at enhancing the sensitivity and throughput of protein analysis, with a strong emphasis on single-cell proteomics. Our mission is to apply these groundbreaking technologies to critical areas of biomedical research, particularly focusing on understanding protein dysfunctions in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative conditions.

Position Overview
We invite applications from skilled scientist and senior scientist candidates eager to contribute to our mission of leveraging single-cell proteomics to decipher the underlying causes of Alzheimer’s and related neurodegenerative diseases. The ideal candidates will possess in-depth knowledge of the molecular mechanisms driving neurodegeneration and have hands-on experience in single-cell analysis, computational biology, and the handling of brain tissue.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team, engaging in NIH-funded projects that utilize cutting-edge proteomic technologies developed at PTI to unveil novel molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration. Daily responsibilities will encompass designing and executing experiments to isolate and profile single cells from brain tissue, computationally analyzing extensive single-cell proteomics datasets, preparing scholarly manuscripts and presentations, mentoring junior scientists, and participating in regular meetings with collaborators both within and outside of PTI. Initially, candidates will join ongoing projects but will also have the freedom to design and lead their own research initiatives.

We welcome applications from candidates with less than 1 year of postdoctoral experience for the scientist position, while those with more than 1 year of experience will be considered for the senior scientist role.

About PTI
PTI is a forward-thinking nonprofit organization established under Convergent Research, aiming to catalyze advancements in science and technology by addressing large-scale challenges that can alleviate existing bottlenecks in specific research domains. Our goal is to achieve a transformative increase in the scale of proteomic analysis, targeting a 100-1000x enhancement. To realize this vision, we are pioneering new methodologies and technologies for mass spectrometric proteomics, including innovative molecular barcodes known as “mass tags” that facilitate sample multiplexing.

About Parallel Squared Technology Institute

The Parallel Squared Technology Institute is committed to pushing the boundaries of proteomic research to unlock new frontiers in neurodegenerative disease understanding and treatment. Our collaborative environment fosters innovation and scientific excellence, making us a leader in the field.
