We are seeking a talented individual with a strong background in roadway and highway design standards, as well as familiarity with SCDOT's design manuals and processes. As part of our Columbia, SC team, you will manage highway and roadway design projects from initial planning to final construction phases, prepare right-of-way (ROW) plan sets, coordinate utility relocations, and produce technical design deliverables that meet SCDOT and AASHTO standards. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing flexibility between office and remote work.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review roadway design plans, including alignments, typical sections, cross-sections, and geometric layouts in accordance with SCDOT’s Roadway Design Manual.
Conduct design calculations for roadway geometry, drainage systems, and pavement design.
Create construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for state and local roadway projects.
Oversee subsurface utility engineering (SUE) activities and utility relocations.
Utilize CAD/design software to prepare and finalize plan sets and quantity summaries.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive design solutions.
Conduct field reviews and engage with stakeholders and SCDOT personnel as necessary.
Perform quality control checks on design deliverables to ensure compliance with standards.
Mentor junior engineers and assist in project scheduling and resource management.
Stay updated on SCDOT, AASHTO, and FHWA policies and industry best practices.
