Noah’s Ark Lab, established in 2012, drives research at Huawei Canada with a focus on artificial intelligence. The lab’s work spans both academic and industry applications, supporting projects that shape AI’s future in areas such as large language models, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, computer vision, AI theory, and autonomous driving. The team is committed to long-term research that directly informs Huawei’s products and services.

Role Overview

The Senior Researcher in Physical AI will join the Markham, Ontario team to tackle practical challenges in Embodied AI and Spatial AI. This position blends foundational research with real-world application, working closely with other researchers and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to address challenges in Embodied AI and Spatial AI, connecting research outcomes to practical solutions.
  • Develop and test new methodologies for Physical AI, focusing on areas such as robotic foundation models, world models, multimodal representation learning, reasoning and planning, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and low-level control.
  • Translate problem definitions and model designs into production-ready code, supporting rapid experimentation and iteration.
  • Design and conduct experiments on both simulation and real-world robotics platforms, including data collection, evaluation, and performance analysis.
  • Collaborate across research, infrastructure, and robotics teams to create a feedback loop between data, models, and real-world performance.
  • Contribute to patents and publish research in leading AI and robotics venues.

Compensation

Total target annual compensation for this role ranges from $127,000 to $225,000, depending on educational background, experience, and demonstrated expertise.
