About Our Team:

Our Emerging Storage Lab, located at Huawei Canada's Toronto and Vancouver Research Centres, is dedicated to pioneering next-generation storage technologies. Our diverse team of skilled computer engineers and scientists, with experience ranging from recent graduates to industry veterans with over 20 years of expertise, is at the forefront of innovation. We explore various aspects of storage technology including data management, data cataloging, file systems, storage networks, and AI storage, seeking to propel advancements in the AI-driven data storage landscape.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct applied research to design and prototype cutting-edge AI data engines and storage architectures tailored for optimizing large-scale AI training and inference workloads.

  • Architect and implement robust software components across data, metadata, and AI pipeline layers, ensuring data lineage, versioning, and automated lifecycle management for AI assets.

  • Develop and refine the data plane for AI infrastructures, addressing critical challenges like distributed dataset shuffling, rapid checkpointing, model loading and offloading, KV Cache operations, and low-latency metadata serving for billion-scale datasets.

  • Create high-performance system software that seamlessly integrates AI storage, AI data, and orchestration frameworks, eliminating bottlenecks within the machine learning pipeline.

  • Enhance the end-to-end data path from persistent storage to GPU memory by leveraging knowledge of hardware, networking, and AI workload specifications.

  • Contribute to the academic community by publishing research at leading conferences.

  • Collaborate with global AI research and engineering teams to bring innovations to production and shape the strategic roadmap for AI infrastructure.
