Senior Research Associate II
Location: Foster City, CA
Duration: 6 Months
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver operational support for the acquisition and management of human biological samples utilized in biomarker and research initiatives, contributing to the objectives of the Biomarker Sciences Group.
- Strategically plan, coordinate, and execute on-site receiving, accessioning, and distribution of samples sourced from commercial vendors and academic partners, as well as participant clinical studies and Investigator Sponsored Trials (ISTs), in alignment with approved sample requests.
- Oversee the monitoring of sample delivery, ensuring the quality of samples and vendor performance in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Maintain detailed information on sample vendors, encompassing inventory, cost, sample collection services, and performance metrics.
- Conduct biomarker sample aliquoting to optimize sample conservation upon request, including barcoding and accessioning child samples into the inventory.
- Ensure the maintenance of sample accessioning laboratory equipment and processes regarding receipt, accessioning, aliquoting, storage, and distribution, while adhering to regulatory compliance standards.
- Collect, organize, and curate data regarding samples obtained from commercial vendors, academic collaborators, and Gilead clinical studies for integration into the biomarker research database.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keep accurate records of sample inventory and acquisition information, documenting curation activities in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop and adhere to biomarker sample management business processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Utilize the biomarker research database and reporting tools as outlined in SOPs.
- Maintain laboratory processes and equipment in compliance with biosafety and quality standards, while collaborating with infrastructure support teams.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the Biomarker Sciences and Research Biology Groups to meet sample requirements and address scientific and technical inquiries.
- Engage with various departments within the Biomarker Sciences Group to align activities and responsibilities.
- Identify and implement potential enhancements to laboratory processes and sample information management through teamwork.
