ABOUT THE ROLE
As a vital member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will take on a leadership role within the mechanical engineering department. Your projects will encompass various sectors, including educational institutions, healthcare facilities, sports complexes, corporate offices, and scientific research facilities.
 
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Lead complex designs for HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for large buildings, with minimal oversight. You may also assist in Plumbing and Fire Protection designs as needed.
  • Establish effective communication with clients and collaborate with the design team.
  • Participate in the QAQC process as an independent reviewer.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical leadership to junior designers and engineering team members.
  • Oversee the performance and development of less experienced staff, including conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Manage engineering complexities associated with Energy Model software.
  • Create Revit/BIM models of HVAC systems throughout all project phases, including schematic design and construction administration, and perform Revit/BIM modeling for plumbing and fire protection when necessary.
  • Review and approve shop drawings for compliance with project specifications and contract documents.
  • Engage in project meetings with clients, architects, and construction administration while maintaining a focus on budget adherence.
  • Lead or participate in value engineering sessions with Architectural and Engineering teams.
  • Propose enhancements to standards and processes to improve quality, coordination, and streamline production efforts.
  • Coordinate staff development activities in collaboration with the Project Manager, including work planning and budget development.
  • Address RFIs and review change orders during the construction document preparation process.
  • Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and monitor construction progress. Site visits will often require a physical walk-through of the site.
  • Represent CanonDesign in project-related activities, guiding project team members and contributing to business development initiatives.
