About the job
About Redwood Materials
Redwood is pioneering a localized battery supply chain that integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling—ensuring critical minerals remain in circulation and facilitating the energy transition. Established in 2017, we are at the forefront of delivering affordable, large-scale energy storage while producing battery materials in the U. S. for the first time, utilizing batteries we already possess.
The Redwood Vision: Modernizing the Grid
Envision being at the forefront of a significant industrial transformation. Just as the electric vehicle revolution redefined automobiles as software-driven entities, Redwood Materials is revolutionizing the global energy grid. We go beyond merely managing batteries; we are constructing the "nervous system" for a sustainable energy economy.
Our R&D team in San Francisco is spearheading the shift from outdated, hardware-centric infrastructures to agile, software-driven ecosystems. We are demonstrating that a sustainable, 100% renewable grid is not just a goal—it’s a technical reality fueled by advanced control intelligence. We seek the "architects of the electron" to help us phase out fossil-fuel peaker plants.
Position: Senior Power Electronics Controls Engineer
In this role, you will spearhead the design and implementation of the intelligent control systems for our cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and mixed-asset energy sites. You will oversee the entire lifecycle of our control systems—from initial conceptualization and advanced modeling to assessing real-world grid impacts. Your contributions will ensure that both recycled and new battery assets work in unison to stabilize the grid and maximize high-power conversion at an industrial scale.
