Your Mission:
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer with extensive experience in AWS RDS and Aurora. This role requires a collaborative approach to support our development teams. You will oversee the PostgreSQL infrastructure, optimize performance, and actively participate in database design and code reviews to deliver scalable, efficient, and maintainable data solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess hands-on operational database administration experience, a solid understanding of application-level requirements, and excellent communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration with developers, helping them optimize SQL and database usage.
Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
Administer, monitor, and enhance PostgreSQL databases on Amazon RDS and Aurora.
Conduct routine database maintenance tasks such as backup validation, replication checks, patching, and upgrades.
Work closely with developers to optimize SQL and database objects, maintain PL/pgSQL routines, and support data modeling initiatives to boost performance.
Establish and refine database performance metrics, logs, and alerts utilizing AWS CloudWatch, pg_stat_statements, and other tools.
Identify and enhance slow-running queries.
Implement and oversee access control, auditing, and security policies in accordance with organizational standards.
Develop and maintain database documentation and deployment scripts.
Adhere to and contribute to best practices for schema changes, migrations, and version control of database objects (experience with GitHub is a plus).
Participate in DevOps processes, including database CI/CD and automation.
