About the job
HyperLight, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is advancing the commercialization of thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) integrated photonics. Since 2018, the company has focused on scalable optical components for sectors such as AI/datacom infrastructure, hyperscale computing, quantum computing, and sensing. Backed by leading venture capital, HyperLight supports the mass deployment of TFLN photonics with a growing, collaborative team.
The TFLN Chiplet™ platform is HyperLight’s flagship product. Its modular, integrated design supports scalability and manufacturability, making it suitable for complex system integration. HyperLight partners with customers and suppliers from early design through prototyping and mass production, aiming for smooth adoption of TFLN photonic technology.
Role Overview
The Senior Photonics Process Development Engineer will lead the development, optimization, and scaling of fabrication processes for the TFLN platform. This position involves direct engagement with customers, especially in quantum computing and other emerging fields, to translate requirements into scalable manufacturing processes. The role also includes managing advanced process node development and coordinating process variations to improve performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and optimize next-generation and custom fabrication processes for high-performance TFLN photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
- Work closely with customers and suppliers to develop processes that address both immediate and future performance needs.
- Coordinate with internal teams in design, testing, and production to manage development tapeouts, oversee production, and support wafer-level testing.
Collaboration and Impact
This role offers opportunities for cross-functional work within HyperLight, including direct interaction with both customers and suppliers. The Senior Photonics Process Development Engineer will help shape fabrication strategies that support new applications and ensure timely delivery of solutions.
