RoleTake full ownership of product outcomes for spaceflight hardware. Define requirements for subsystems and components, including loads, interfaces, and functional specifications. Conduct mechanical design and analysis of complex assemblies to meet launch and on-orbit constraints. Establish and define design best practices for future initiatives. Oversee system-level schedules and integration requirements for your subsystems while collaborating with the Assembly, Integration, and Test team to ensure a seamless build process. Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional talent for our rapidly expanding team. RequirementsB. S. or M. S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field.4 to 15+ years of mechanical design or relevant experience. Proficiency in CAD design (SolidWorks) and Finite Element Analysis.

Senior Mechanical Engineer

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Astranis, you will take complete ownership of various subsystems throughout the lifecycle of our spacecraft. You will collaborate with multiple teams to realize both incremental improvements and the introduction of innovative systems.
In addition to your individual contributions, you will also mentor and train junior mechanical engineers, fostering their development on various projects. A strong background in problem-solving, hands-on testing skills, and experience in spacecraft or aerospace engineering are essential for this role.
