About the job

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Join Aetherflux as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and contribute to pioneering the infrastructure that powers and connects the orbital economy. Our innovative satellites operate in Low Earth Orbit, harnessing sunlight and enabling groundbreaking capabilities, including energy transmission via infrared lasers and secure optical data delivery. By revolutionizing energy and data generation and distribution in space, we are creating new operational paradigms for both orbit and Earth.

Founded in 2024 by Baiju Bhatt, co-founder of Robinhood, Aetherflux is supported by leading investors and staffed by experts from top aerospace and defense firms. We are rapidly addressing complex technical challenges to establish a new category of space infrastructure.

Your Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and constructing the physical systems that ensure our spacecraft operate reliably in the harsh environment of space. You will oversee essential hardware from conception to flight, focusing on structures, mechanisms, thermal systems, and packaging to produce high-performance, flight-ready designs. This hands-on position is central to hardware development, requiring close collaboration with propulsion, power, avionics, guidance, navigation, control (GNC), and software teams to design integrated systems, quickly prototype, and validate through rigorous testing. You will need to move swiftly, iterate frequently, and take ownership of hardware that directly influences mission success.
