About the job

Relativity Space is developing the Terran R launch vehicle to meet growing demand for orbital payload delivery. This work supports advances in science, exploration, and technology. The company values autonomy and ownership, encouraging engineers to tackle complex challenges that shape not only rockets, but also the supporting factory and business.

Collaboration spans propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, and corporate teams. Decisions and contributions here have a direct and visible impact. Creativity and technical rigor are both important, and every perspective influences the company’s direction as Terran R progresses.

Structures and Mechanisms Team

This team oversees the entire lifecycle of Terran R’s integrated structures and flight mechanisms, including both moving parts and precision static assemblies. Work involves taking hardware from initial design through build and test, with engineers often seeing their assemblies come together on the factory floor.

Engineers on this team are not confined to a single subsystem. The group shares design principles and tools, allowing for a broad view of the vehicle and the authority to make decisions that affect flight hardware. After the first flight, the team’s focus shifts to improving manufacturability and efficiency.
