The Role
As the Senior Manager of Robot Diagnostics Engineering, you will spearhead a dynamic organization tasked with diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and software failures within our robots. Your leadership will be crucial in creating efficient tooling, workflows, and data systems that facilitate rapid, precise, and scalable diagnostics across our entire fleet.
This role encompasses the comprehensive diagnostics strategy, spanning from identifying field failure signals to establishing root causes, tooling, metrics, and design feedback. Your mission will be to enhance the efficiency and quality of diagnostics through automation and process enhancements, ensuring that recurring service challenges lead to sustainable design and operational solutions. You will represent diagnostics and service at a senior level during design reviews, architecture discussions, and reliability forums, using data-driven insights to shape product direction and operational priorities.
You will be responsible for the diagnostics roadmap, organizational execution, and the metrics that underpin reliability, serviceability, and repair decisions across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and expand the Diagnostics Engineering organization, defining strategy, priorities, and execution standards across multiple teams.
Own the diagnostics vision and multi-quarter roadmap, incorporating tooling, workflows, data infrastructure, and comprehensive documentation.
Set clear expectations for diagnostic quality, safety handling, and escalation processes across service and engineering teams.
Drive automation and process improvements that significantly reduce diagnosis time and enhance first-pass accuracy at scale.
Oversee diagnostics, repair, and escalation metrics; ensure these metrics are reliable, transparent, and influence leadership decisions.
Examine fleet-wide failure patterns to uncover systemic issues and prioritize engineering and design investments accordingly.
Act as a senior representative for diagnostics and service in design reviews, architecture discussions, and cross-functional planning meetings.
Collaborate closely with hardware, electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and service leadership to ensure that recurring issues lead to documented design or process improvements.
Ensure that diagnostic guidance, known-issue interpretations, and recommended procedures are thoroughly documented, updated, and consistently applied.
Own the implementation and adoption of new diagnostic tools and procedures across service teams.
