Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should possess:A Master’s or Ph. D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on machine learning and data systems. Expertise in large-scale ML model architectures, particularly for autonomous vehicle applications. Proficiency in constructing scalable systems for training and fine-tuning extensive models to evaluate complex driving behaviors. Strong background in data engineering, model development, and simulation. A proven track record of leading architectural decisions and technical directions for large, intricate systems. Experience in optimizing machine learning models for extensive vehicle fleets that collectively travel millions of miles. Ability to design and scale distributed systems that encompass the entire ML lifecycle, including dataset generation, model training, and evaluation. Cross-functional collaboration skills to derive performance and system-level requirements for large ML systems.

Our DUE Machine Learning team is tasked with constructing and managing scalable machine learning and data systems, simulation workflows, and insight tools, all aimed at optimizing the evaluation and onboarding processes for developers. This team integrates human expertise with cutting-edge machine learning models to produce training and evaluation data across a multitude of metrics, enhancing the performance of the Waymo Driver. We seek passionate researchers and software engineers excited about advancing machine learning methodologies for our autonomous vehicle evaluation systems, dedicated to enhancing our technology stack's efficacy.
