As a Senior Linux Engineer at DreamWorks Technology, you will spearhead the management and support of our Linux environment, focusing on crucial tasks such as security updates, package repository management, and the investigation and deployment of Linux OS/kernel configurations. You will also oversee hardware lifecycle management effectively.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive process documentation, encapsulating industry best practices for team reference.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior team members, sharing your expertise in system administration and operational best practices.
- Manage name services utilizing Red Hat IDM, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate with Active Directory and upstream HR services.
- Oversee virtualization efforts including Red Hat/Openshift Virtualization, Hyper-V, and VMWare, along with cloud initiatives in Azure and AWS.
- Collaborate with your team to design, update, and maintain systems for provisioning and updating operating systems, employing tools like Foreman/Katello and Chef/Ansible.
- Drive enhancements and resolve bugs for large-scale automation projects such as patching, provisioning, and kickstart domains.
- Engage in escalation processes and Root Cause Analysis to enhance system reliability.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to maintain operational continuity.
- Efficiently manage your work queue while documenting progress and relevant information.
- Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, as required.
- Execute off-hours maintenance tasks as necessary.
