Your Role
We are in search of a Senior Level Designer who will pioneer the development of an immersive, player-centric game world. This role requires someone with expertise in level design using Unreal Engine (UE), coupled with a strong passion for experiential design. You will work closely with our art team to ensure we deliver the most engaging player experience possible.
In this capacity, you will collaborate with the Design Director and Art Director to establish a compelling vision for our game world, while leading a team of artists, engineers, and animators to bring that vision to life. Your responsibilities will encompass both out-of-engine experiential design and in-engine level design during prototyping phases, ensuring the realization of our ambitious creative goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of our target audience and competitive landscape to inform design decisions.
- Partner with the Design Director and Art Director to articulate the vision for the game world.
- Collaborate with the QA team to enhance the game experience through rigorous testing and feedback integration.
- Create playable blockouts (greyboxing) of large-scale open-world environments, emphasizing landmark visibility, navigation, and gameplay dynamics.
- Rapidly iterate on level designs based on playtest insights, transitioning efficiently from low-fidelity prototypes to final geometry while maintaining core gameplay integrity.
- Work in tandem with Artists, Engineers, Animators, and Project Management to ensure cohesive level design.
- Utilize Unreal Engine's debugging tools to troubleshoot and resolve logic errors, collision issues, and performance glitches in specific map areas.
- Integrate quest objectives with global game systems (e.g., UI trackers, save/load states).
