Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) in competition/antitrust law, ideally from a prestigious international law firm or a fast-paced in-house setting. Qualification to practice in Singapore or Hong Kong is preferred, with experience in technology-driven or platform businesses being advantageous. Thorough knowledge of antitrust regulations across APAC (e.g., Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines) and a keen awareness of the evolving landscape of digital economy regulations. Strong grasp of “two-sided markets” and platform economics, especially regarding how network effects and data access affect market power definitions. Demonstrated ability to harmonize rigorous legal risk management with the commercial objectives of a high-growth tech enterprise. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to simplify complex legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders and diverse groups.

Join our dynamic regional legal team as a Senior Legal Counsel, Antitrust & Competition. In this pivotal role, you will adeptly steer through the intricate competition landscape across the APAC region, managing a diverse portfolio spanning over 10 markets. Your expertise will ensure that our operations flourish in a competitive environment while upholding the utmost standards of regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Advisory: Guide and provide insights on all competition law matters related to foodpanda’s operations in APAC, encompassing antitrust investigations and commercial agreements across ten jurisdictions.

  • Compliance Champion: Collaborate in shaping, implementing, and enhancing our global competition law compliance program, customizing global frameworks to cater to the unique nuances of APAC markets, and developing “field-ready” playbooks for local operations teams.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a trusted advisor to regional and local leadership, offering strategic counsel on competition law risks and regulatory inquiries, balancing global consistency with local agility.

  • Platform-Specific Counsel: Deliver critical advice on essential business matters: merchant parity/exclusivity clauses, loyalty programs, dynamic pricing, and the intersection of gig economy labor and competition.

  • Investigation Leadership: Spearhead competition law investigations and regulatory interactions, developing readiness protocols to ensure informed decision-making at the highest levels.

  • Practical Guidance: Convert evolving APAC regulatory updates into actionable, business-savvy guidance, empowering teams to confidently adhere to both global and local requirements.

  • Global Training: Design and conduct impactful training sessions for stakeholders worldwide, cultivating a strong understanding of antitrust risks and compliance culture.
